German Retail Sales Fall 2.5% in July

Retail sales in Germany fell 2.5% year-on-year in real terms in July, according to Destatis. In nominal terms, however, retail turnover increased by 0.3%. The decline in real sales points to weaker consumer demand and could weigh on Germany’s economic outlook.
