US initial jobless claims down by 5,000 to 227,000

The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States decreased by 5,000 to 227,000 in the week ending February 7, the Department of Labor shared in its report on Thursday. The 4-week moving average rose by 7,000 from the previous week's unrevised average to stand at 219,500.
